Ash-tree
Ashwood is harder than beech and oak. The ash has a distinctive wavy texture with clearly visible annual rings, a brownish-gray tint, and even a red or pink tinge. Degree of hardness- 4.0 – 4.1 HB. Ash-tree grows in temperate climates but is also found in America and even in Japan.
Description:
- Class A – boards without cracks and clean on both sides without twigs.
- Class B – one side clean without twigs, live twigs 15-40 mm are allowed on the other side.
- Class C – twigs on both sides are allowed, curvature up to +/-100mm.
*The width of uncut (with bark) timber is measured on the narrow side of the board from the bark to the bark in the middle of the board.
